Ontario Wheelchair Sports Association is dedicated to the development and promotion of athlete centered, amateur wheelchair sport programs in Ontario. The focus of the Bridging the Gap (BTG) program is to facilitate increased accessibility and inclusion of participants with physical disabilities in wheelchair sport and recreation opportunities. The BTG Program plays a key role in promoting healthy active lifestyles for Ontarians with a disability.

Ontario Wheelchair Sports Association (OWSA) is seeking a Program Coordinator to be responsible for the overall delivery of OWSA’s Bridging the Gap Program. The position reports to OWSA are Executive Director and the National BTG Coordinator.
Position:
Bridging the Gap, Program Coordinator
Key Responsibility Areas 
- Coordinate, plan, and implement all aspects of the BTG program
- Coordinate recruitment and orientation of program volunteers
- Support and enhance partnerships and community networking, specifically with rehabilitation centres, schools, and community social services
- Assist in the development, evaluation and reporting on strategies and initiatives for increasing participation through BTG and community clubs
- Maintain Wheelchair Loan Program and equipment maintenance
- General BTG administrative duties
- Assisting Executive Director as needed
Qualifications and Experience
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
- Program development and coordination experience
- Experience working with people with disabilities
- Working knowledge of Ontario Sport and/or Parasport systems
- Outgoing personality and ability to network
- Effective group facilitating skills
- Experience in writing grants and proposals
- Valid drivers license with reliable vehicle
- Prior experience working with a volunteer Board in the not-for-profit sector is an asset
- Must be functional in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel and work off-site as required for program delivery
- Must be able to lift and move equipment
