Together to Live is an evergreen online toolkit for addressing youth suicide in your community. It is a growing collection of tools, stories and evidence that support a whole-community approach to suicide prevention, risk management and postvention.
The Ontario Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health (the Centre) created this website as a tool for service providers working with children and youth to help them in bringing together their community to prevent youth suicide. We recognize the need to support communities in their efforts to implement and evaluate youth suicide prevention, risk management and postvention strategies using evidence-informed approaches. We also recognize the need to connect communities to learn from each other’s experiences so we can help build capacity to address youth suicide across the province.
Communities are unique. The issues facing each community are unique and how communities come together to most effectively address those issues, including youth suicide, will vary across the province. Yet, whether your community is just getting started or already on your journey to implement and evaluate evidence-informed youth suicide prevention, risk management and postvention strategies, this website has information that may be useful to you.
This website is not going to make anyone an expert in community mobilization or youth suicide prevention, risk management, and postvention. Through this website, we aim to provide comprehensive information and resources, grounded in evidence, about community mobilization and youth suicide prevention, risk management and postvention to support community-based efforts to address youth suicide. We recognize that people and communities have different preferences so we are striving to provide a range of tools and resources to provide you with a suite of options to choose from.
We invite you to come back often to see what’s new. We hope to continue to grow the resources in this website with your involvement. We want to hear about what you’re doing in your community and hear of any evaluation that you may have done to show impact (and put you on the map!). Are we missing resources or information? Send us a resource. Having trouble finding something? Let us know! We’re always looking for feedback and ways to improve this website so it can meet the needs of communities across Ontario. Please, fill out our feedback survey.
